Activism online: Exploring how crises are communicated visually in activism campaigns

During the past years, activist movements have increasingly turned to social media raise awareness and critically discuss current development future scenarios. As a contribution discussion of new activism in digital age, this study aims explore how environmental risks crisis are visually communicated campaigns on Instagram, through case Extinction Rebellion Sweden (XRsv). The is delimited first 334 posts XRsv's Instagram between November 14, 2018 March 1, 2020. Methods used interview content analysis. In conclusion, XRsv has adopted aspects design including visual tactics Informing, Activating Explaining. These three by an online context enabling interactivity participatory actions, which turn forms core activism.
